Benedikte Hansen is a Danish actress born in Copenhagen in 1958. She has graduated from The Danish National School of Theatre. From a very young age she became a recognised actress in the Scandinavian market. Hansen has a vast career in theatre, film and television. One of the roles that launched her to international recognition was her remarkable performance as Hanne Holm in the television series “Borgen” (2010-2014) She has been actively working on television since the beginning of her career. Among others, Hansen has worked in the international tv-show “The Lady Vanishes” (2013) along side Jesper Christensen, “Above Suspicion” (2010), The Scandinavian series “The Killing” (2008) , “Unit 1 (Rejseholdet)” (2004) and “Forestillinger” (2007), directed by the acclaimed Per Fly. Furthermore, she has been part of the cast of “Hotel at the Sea (Badehotellet)”, one of the most popular series in Denmark, for 6 seasons ongoing. Her last feature abroad is the bittersweet comedy ”Denmark”, where she played alongside Rafe Spall. For more than 20 years, Hansen has been part of the ensemble at the Royal Danish Theatre. She played leading roles in several performances such as “Heksekagt”, “Hamlet”, “Flugt”, “Antonius & Cleopatra”, “Macbeth” and many others. In 2016, Hansen won the prestigious Danish Theatre Award “Reumert” as best leading actress for her performance in “Tørst”.
